Southport Update Report

I am pleased to inform you that Council unanimously voted in favour of my request for a proper, formalised approach to homelessness.

This approach will provide a much needed 'Homelessness Action Plan' and 'Homelessness Protocol'. This is a profound step as Council has never formally addressed this matter before. Now, we will be in a position to robustly hold the state government to account to provide adequate housing and essential counselling & rehab services.

Funding is also allocated for two full-time city law officers, who will work outside normal business hours, focussing squarely on homeless related matters on our streets. This includes a zero tolerance approach to anti-social behaviour that is impacting on the safety and well-being of residents and business owners.
