Creating New and Sustainable Economic Opportunities on the Gold Coast

The City of Gold Coast is continuing its strong commitment to building a thriving and sustainable local economy, with an $87 million investment in 2025–26 to support its key controlled entities and economic growth initiatives.

These entities—Invest Gold Coast, Brand Gold Coast, and Experience Gold Coast—are tasked with identifying and delivering opportunities that strengthen the local economy and support the region’s 85,000+ businesses.

“With the largest economy of any Australian non-capital city and a GRP of $49.5 billion, the City is well positioned to lead future investment into tourism, business, and place branding,” said Mayor Tom Tate.
 

🌿 Boosting Nature-Based Tourism

A new Nature-Based Tourism Program has also been launched to support sustainable tourism experiences that celebrate the Gold Coast’s natural beauty. With research showing that 1 in 5 travellers seek nature-focused experiences, this program aims to preserve and promote our city’s rich ecological assets—the "green behind the gold".

“We want businesses to help us protect and celebrate our unique environment to enhance tourism and create long-term value for the city,” Mayor Tate said.
