Presidents Update: By Ian Kennedy

Southport Chamber of Commerce (SCOC) has a new President - Ian Kennedy.

Welcome to our new look branding and website. These are just some of the changes being implemented by the Chamber’s new Board this year.

Some other changes being rolled out include membership investment tailored to the size of your business with the option of paying the annual fees on a monthly basis. Please explore our website for more information to enable your business to join the peak body representing business in and around the Southport CBD.

We are also working on new sponsorship opportunities for those members wanting to invest further in supporting the Chamber’s work and at the same time getting the opportunity to strategically market their business to members and guests of the Chamber.

With a strong membership support base we can better advocate for and support business on various issues including Local, State and Federal Government issues.

Join us for one of our breakfast meetings and be inspired and informed by a diverse range of speakers. Come to one of our evening functions to socialise and build partnerships with other local businesses.

Southport is predicted to be one of the fastest growing areas in the country over the next 10 years. At the present time a significant proportion of the businesses in Southport have no more than 2 employees.

Don’t work in a vacuum. Find synergies with other businesses and mentors by engaging with the Southport Chamber of Commerce business community.

If you represent an organisation with a significant involvement in Southport as a stakeholder, (School, Industry Organisation, Not for Profit etc), then contact us to get involved in the Southport Community Consultative Committee, a group facilitated by the Chamber, which meets with representatives of Council, State and Federal Government, Police, Health and Education to share and disseminate information of interest and relevance to Southport.

As the Southport Chamber’s new president I look forward to meeting members and guests at our regular events to discuss what we can all do to grow the CBD and the City in the interests of all our businesses.
