Rail Trail between M1 and Southport

We are seeking your feedback, on proposed construction of a rail trail following the Southport Branch of the old South Coast Rail corridor. The rail corridor extends between Parkwood and Southport and includes the heritage listed Ernest Junction tunnel.

A rail trail typically involves the conversion of a decommissioned railway into a multi-use recreation path, used for walking and cycling. A planning study currently being completed will provide trail options, an assessment of how best the trail could integrate with existing active travel networks, as well as community sentiment.
