Common Ground: A Vision for a Compassionate Community
There are pivotal moments in one's career that encapsulate the purpose and passion of public service, and the progression of Common Ground on the Gold Coast is undoubtedly one of them for me.
Common Ground isn’t just a housing model; it’s a testament to our shared vision for a community where everyone, regardless of their circumstances, has a roof over their head and a place they can call home. The recent fundraising dinner at Parliament was more than just an event; it was a collective statement about the kind of society we envision - inclusive, compassionate, and supportive.
In light of the current housing and health challenges our community faces, initiatives like Common Ground are not just essential; they are urgent. While we celebrate the progress we've made, including the incredible $2 million pledge from the James Frizelle Charitable Foundation, it also serves as a reminder that our work is far from over.
This journey began with a vision, and it continues with the unwavering commitment of our community, volunteers, and partners. Together, we're not just building homes; we're cultivating hope and creating a future where every Queenslander has the security and dignity of a place to call home.
Thank you for being a part of this journey.
