2020 – what a year.

 

It has been a privilege to be at your service – here is a wrap up of what we have done in the CBD so far.

 

After working closely with the Police and Department of Housing we have made great strides getting to the root of social issues in key hot spots across our CBD. Council now leads the charge on homelessness and public housing matters. We’ve got two dedicated patrol officers on the beat and more importantly can now hold the state government to account on delivering public housing and support for our most vulnerable. I will be steadfast in ensuring Gold Coast gets its fair share of support in this area and that you can count on a clean and safe environment.

 

With the Clean and Safe agenda ticked, I got stuck into the plans for a new imagined CBD. First step was to get the planning scheme right. I’m grateful Council accepted my request to review the PDA so we can have a scheme that doesn’t incentivise land banking and holes in the ground, but rather attracts diverse and modern businesses from across the country into our CBD.

 

Now I’m advocating to the federal government for a federal family law court, to the State government for a Supreme law court and for Council Chambers to be in the heart of our CBD.

 

Christmas is a special time of the year – a time for family, friends and community.
