Update from Cr Brooke Patterson

It is my pleasure to welcome in the new Chamber Committee led by President, Trevor Bruger. I wish you all the very best.

The City of Gold Coast has big projects planned for the CBD in 2024:

• Resolution of the Priority Development Area review

• Design completion for Nerang Street Mall Upgrade

• Our new $5m Civic Park on Lawson Street preparatory works

• Big City Lights in July for its next chapter

• Council decision on future headquarters for our staff, to be voted on in 4th quarter. This is a huge step and I am working with the CEO and executive to ensure the case for the CBD is well presented.

Kung Hei Fat Choi!

This weekend we ushered in the Year of the Dragon with celebrations in Chinatown. Thousands of attendees were not put off by the weather, enjoying the live performances, market stalls, and everything our local businesses had to offer. Our City Events team do excellent work involving local businesses in the action. Our next CBD event will be in March, with the return of the popular Twilight Markets in Nerang Street. I am proud to deliver these night-time activation events that highlight our CBD as a prime event and food district.

I do not take this role for granted and hope to continue to work hard for Division 6 and the CBD.
